Your bedroom should be like an oasis—a peaceful and calm place where you can unwind and recharge. Not full of junk, but when life gets busy, it’s easy for clutter to take over. To me, my bedroom is mine and my hubby’s space…I want it to be calm and relaxing, not overwhelming. 

Here are some simple, actionable tips to help you keep your bedroom tidy and maintain a relaxing space, even when you’re pressed for time. 

 

  1. Make the Bed Every Day 

One of the quickest ways to refresh your room is by making your bed. It instantly creates a sense of order and makes the whole room look more put together. Plus, there’s nothing quite like getting into a freshly made bed at the end of a long day! Our rule is the last one out of bed, makes the bed, which is usually Jimmy. But sometimes I will make the bed because I have a few extra minutes or I do it to be kind and help him out. 

 

  1. Keep Surfaces Tidy  

Nightstands, dressers and other surfaces can quickly become catch-alls for random items. A simple trick is to declutter these surfaces daily. Store essential items in a drawer or basket and keep the tops clear to maintain a clean look. Just put stuff away. I will say I do lay my workout clothes out every night before I go to bed. 

 

  1. Stay on Top of Laundry  

Throw clothes in the laundry basket. Laundry can easily pile up, making the room feel chaotic. Create a routine that works for you—whether it’s folding and putting away clothes right after washing or designating a day to tackle it. Staying on top of it will prevent it from becoming overwhelming. 

 

  1. Vacuum and Dust Regularly  

It’s easy to forget to clean under the bed, but dust and debris can accumulate quickly. Maybe your dog likes to hide toys under the bed. A weekly vacuum and dust will help keep your bedroom fresh and dust-free. 

 

  1. Maintain a Clutter-Free Zone  

A cluttered room can impact your peace of mind. Keep only the essentials in your bedroom, and find storage solutions that work for you, such as under-the-bed bins or closet organizers. Maintaining a tidy, simple space can improve both your mood and sleep quality. Our bedroom has the least amount of stuff in it, because I truly want it to be more of an oasis. 

These quick and easy steps will help you create a calming, organized bedroom—so you can focus on rest and relaxation, rather than mess. It can make a huge difference in your sleep, I know it did for me. 

 

I love to grab a book and just lay in bed and read.
