Staying Spiritually Focused During a Busy Season

New Year’s Eve can be a whirlwind of celebrations, resolutions and endless to-do lists.

As moms, we often find ourselves caught up in the chaos of planning, preparing, rushing to keep everything running smoothly, all while debating if we’re gonna stay up to midnight. But amidst the hustle and bustle of a new year, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters—your spiritual well-being.

What if you could enter the new year with a sense of peace, purpose and focus, no matter how busy life gets?

Staying spiritually grounded during this busy season and into the New Year is not only possible, but it’s essential for maintaining your inner peace and clarity.

That’s why I want to explore with you how we can stay spiritually focused even in the most hectic moments, creating a solid foundation for the year ahead—one that honors both your faith and your family.

Why Spiritual Focus is Important to Each One of Us.

By anchoring ourselves in faith it gives us a strong foundation during the busy and hard times. This is something I really felt and experienced this month. When I was grounded in my faith, I had a peace that I was desperately seeking. It was a peace I had been missing while caught in my own pity party. But one day, God truly got a hold of my heart, and I realized that the peace I was longing for had been right in front of me all along.

That peace came from God—especially during the chaos.

When I connected with God, it brought a calmness I desperately needed and the peace I wanted. It didn’t change the circumstance, it changed the way I looked at them. I started looking for the beauty in the chaos. And once I embraced that perspective, I felt more prepared to look forward to the New Year with a renewed sense of purpose. I was able to align my goals and

Simple Ways to Stay Spiritually Focused

Here’s some simple way to stay spiritually connected to God.

  • Morning Devotionals: To me there’s no better way to start the day then with God. The quietness of the house, that stillness with God is incredible.
  • Prayers Throughout the Day: Stop and pray during the day. It can be while folding a load of laundry, driving in the car or taking a few minutes and praying with your kids.
  • Scripture Memorization: Take some to memorize Bible verses. I learned so many when I was growing up, but as an adult it’s not something I do nearly as often now. But yesterday after a bad day, I wish I would have quoted some scriptures to help keep me grounded in God. My goal is to memorize more verses this year. I want to show my kids the importance of memorizing Bible verses.
  • Journaling: Setting aside time to reflect, express gratitude or jot down prayer requests in a quiet space. I love writing my prayers in my journal. If I’m truthful sometimes my journal entries can end up as blog posts. I also love writing down prayer requests and seeing how God answers them.

How to Incorporate Spiritual Practices into a Busy Mom’s Routine

You might be thinking how can I do this, I’m so busy already. But let me be honest, we all make time for what is truly important to us. Do you get up in the morning and scroll Instagram or go to bed watching TikTok? See where you’re wasting time, that’s your time. If you watch TikTok at bedtime, stop and go to bed. That gives you the opportunity to get up earlier and spend time with God. It’s not going to be perfect, but start with 5-10 minutes and see where that goes. Be consistent with what you day. I think the saying goes that it takes 21 days to build a habit. There are days I get lost in my devotional time with God and it goes longer than I anticipated, like this morning. But the other day it was a shorter time and when the afternoon came around, I took some time to be still with God and I journaled a little bit more. I truly love the Bible app, I have found so many devotionals there that I love. I also love a great book for a devotional, I’ll share the links at the end of this blog for you. Some of these books have really changed my life and I have done them more than once.

Get your family involved. Some days I’m still journaling while the kids are up and they understand it’s my time with God. IT’s also important to take the time with your hubby and kids and pray with them. Jimmy and I do devotionals just about every day. Most days we do devotions with the kids.

The Benefits of Spiritual Focus

If we are rooted in Jesus and the Bible, we are able to build resilience that will help us during hard times or dealing with stress. This is literally what I’m working on daily and trying to grow in. I want to be dependent on God because I truly am, life is better, even in the hard times. It also helps all my relationships. My marriage is stronger and better. It gives me more patience with the kids. It helps with understanding them better and being able to help them work through a lot of stuff.

One of the biggest benefits of keeping a spiritual practice is it helps my overall well-being, reduces stress and improves my mood.

Moms just remember that spiritual practices don’t have to be elaborate. Small moments of connection with God can make a huge impact. Taking 5 minutes here and there throughout the day can make a big difference in your life.

I encourage you mama to start their new year with a simple spiritual focus—whether that’s a morning prayer, a Bible verse to meditate on or just taking time to breathe and invite God into the day. A spiritually focused life brings peace, purpose and strength, no matter how busy things get.
