RECIPE

Beef and Noodles

These days I am all about easy meals, like 30 minute meals, crockpot dinners and sheet pan recipes. This Beef and Noodle recipes is on repeat in our house. I will be honest, this meal was hubs idea, but I wasn’t sure how I would like it. I am not gravy person at all and this recipe has a gravy like texture to it. I was totally wrong, this dinner was delicious. All three kids love this dinner, which is always a win.

There are so many things about this recipe that I love. First it is full of flavor, the Worcestershire and Montreal Steak Seasoning add so much flavor. It has more of sauce like texture, than a gravy. Like I said I am not a gravy person. Plus this meal is so easy to make. Easy meals on busy days are the best thing!!

I start by cooking the ground beef and onions. While that is cooking, I start making the noodles, according the package directions. I don’t cook the noodles all the way, because they will cook a little bit more in pan with the meat and sauce. Next add the garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Montreal Steak seasoning and flour to the meat. Stir for a few minutes, making sure the flour gets almost all mixed in. Stir in the beef broth and make sure the flour completely dissolves. This will thicken the sauce up. Drain the noodles and add the noodles to the ground beef pot. Add some salt and pepper to taste. If you want you can add a little bit of grated Parmesan cheese when serving.

Family meals are so important and I know when we don’t have them it effects the kids. When Jimmy Isn’t working, I make sure family meals happen. But the kids and I eat together almost every night!! So here is an easy meal that takes 30 minutes to make and a dinner the whole family will love.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 lbs of lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp Montreal steak seasoning
  • ½ cup flour
  • 4 cups low sodium beef stock or beef broth
  • 3-4 cups egg noodles
  • Grated Parmesan optional

Directions

  1. Heat a large skillet on medium heat. Add olive oil, ground beef and onions, cook over medium heat. Make sure to break up the ground beef. It should take about 10-12 minutes. Start 1 tbsp of olive oil, if meat seems dry add another 1 tbsp of olive oil.
  2. Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook noodles 2 minutes less than packaged directions.
  3. Reduce the heat on the meat pan to low medium heat. Add garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Montreal Steak Seasoning and flour.  Stir for 2-3 minutes, make sure all flour is mixed in. Make sure to stir well so nothing sticks to the bottom of the skillet.
  4. Add in beef broth, stir until flour is completely dissolved. Cook for 7-10 minutes until the gravy has thickened.
  5. Drain noodles and add the noodles to the meat mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add a little bit of fresh parmesan and serve.

Tips & Recommendations

I use lean meat, like 96%/4% or 90%/10%. If you are using a less lean meat, then you will need to drain some of the fat. I also like the wider egg noodles.
