Maple Pecan Cookies

Today is day 7 of 12 Days of Christmas Cookies and we are all about the maple flavor today. Something about maple syrup always makes me think of winter, I have no idea why. I love the balance of maple, brown sugar and pecans, they are the best combination to me. It’s almost like praline flavor in a cookie.

Ingredients
Cookie
- ¾ unsalted melted brown butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ real maple syrup
- 1 large egg room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ tsp maple extract
- 2 ⅔ cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¾ cup pecans
Glaze
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tbsp water
Directions
- In a bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder and cinnamon.
- In a small pot melt butter until lightly browned
- In a large bowl whisk brown butter, brown sugar and sugar
- Add maple syrup, egg, vanilla extract and maple extract to butter mixture, whisk until combined
- Slowly add the flour mixture and mix until just combed.
- Fold in pecans
- Refrigerate dough for 1 hour
- Preheat oven to 350 and line cookie trays with parchment paper
- Using a small scoop, scoop dough and place about 1 ½” apart on a prepared cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until done
- While cookies are cooking make the glaze
- Whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup and water and drizzle over cookies. You might need to add more water to make the glaze thinner.
