RECIPE

Oreo Brownies

These brownies will be your new favorite brownie!! They are full of chocolate and gooey goodness, plus they have Oreos in them. I mean how can they not be your favorite brownie? I really believe good quality ingredients is so important in any recipe. I tried using a different butter recently and the outcome wasn’t what I wanted it to be. So I went back to the Trader Joe’s brand of butter. I can’t stress enough, how important good ingredients are. If you have not gotten black cocoa yet, I recommend you do. It will change all chocolate baking for the better.

Homemade brownies are so much better than box mix and very easy to make. I had a few different brownie recipes and all of them are easy to make. I am gonna share my secret to make homemade brownies.

  1. Melted butter and use unsalted. Unsalted melts so much to me. Melted butter helps the brownies from drying out.
  2. Brown sugar is a must, it gives the brownie a softer texture, while adding a little bit of flavor.
  3. Room temperature eggs so you don’t get scrambled eggs in your brownies.
  4. Black cocoa, it mixes os much better and it is finer, so add a little bit of lightness to the texture for a chewy and softer texture.
  5. Kahlua is optional, but adds to a richer chocolate flavor.
  6. 1 full tsp of salt to bring out the chocolate flavor while adding some balance.
  7. Good quality chocolate, because it makes a difference.

While a box make might seem easier, it really isn’t. You still add a lot of the same ingredients. Plus homemade brownies don’t have all the preservatives that a box mix has. However homemade have more flavor, still are chewy and soft.

Tips & Recommendations

Use good chocolate chips and cocoa powder in this recipe. Save about ¼-⅓ of the Oreos to place on top of the batter before placing in the oven.
