RECIPE

Oreo Ice Cream Dessert

I have been eating this dessert since I can remember. My mom made this growing up all the time in the summer for dessert. I even remember having a piece or two by the pool. Like it was our go to dessert for everything. This day it is my go to dessert for Summer too. I make it quite a few times during the Summer.

Hubs says it is his favorite dessert. I mean it has an Oreo crust with ice cream and Cool Whip, so how can you go wrong? I introduced this dessert to the kids last Summer and they fell in love with it. They tell me hands down it is the best Summer dessert ever.

Let’s talk about how to make this dessert. First you want to crush up the Oreos. I highly recommend Double Stuff Oreos. Mix the crumbs with melted butter. Press the Oreo mixture down into a 9″x9″ pan. Freezer for 30 minutes. While that it is freezing. I like to take the ice cream out of the freezer, to let it get a little soft. You can really use any flavor you want. It makes smoothing the ice cream on top of the Oreo crust easier. Once that is smooth, add your Cool Whip. Smooth that out. I sprinkle some jimmies on top, but you can drizzle chocolate syrup if you want. But to me jimmies make everything better.

Trust me this will be a go to recipe for you.

Tips & Recommendations

I prefer Tillamook Ice Cream. It is super smooth and creamy. We usually use a version of chocolate, mint chocolate chip, cookies and cream, or cookie dough.
